What is the BHA?

The Belize Hotel Association (BHA) is a non-profit, non-government organization whose regular membership is comprised primarily of hoteliers with a category of allied members who actively service the hospitality industry. BHA is an active participant in major decision-making bodies affecting the growth development and maintenance of the tourism industry. This includes holding a seat on the Board of Directors of the Belize Tourism & Industry Association, the country's largest tourism private sector organization and the Belize National Tourism Council, the joint public/private sector agency which coordinates tourism development in Belize.

What the BHA does?

The Belize Hotel Association recognizes that tourism is Belize's largest export product and that it's continued success is dependent upon the maintenance of a value-priced product which adheres to international standards.

Our Objectives:

1. To establish partnerships and links with Government Ministries and non-government agencies and associations.

2. To be a proactive and reactive lobby force with the Government of Belize for the accommodation sector.

3. To organize affordable workshops, seminars, and training opportunities for the Tourism Industry.

4. To facilitate productive sales, advertising and marketing capabilities through cooperative advertising campaigns.

Our Programs:

Lobbying:
Critical to the development of the industry are the combined and coordinated efforts of the Government of Belize and the private sector. BHA takes seriously its role of lobbying for actions that maintain and enhance confidence in the Belize tourism product.

Product Development:
The hotel plant cannot be successful on its own and must be well-integrated in the development of the Belize tourism product. BHA is a leading participant in initiatives to improve visitor experiences as well as the benefits to Belizeans and the local economy.

Training Programs:
Access to high quality training is an integral part of BHA's membership benefits. BHA offers and supports training programs on all aspects of hotel operation including food preparation, front desk procedures and back office controls, marketing, Hotel safety and security, First Aid & CPR, and Tax/Social Security/Labor Seminars.

Marketing and advertising:
Marketing and advertising is vital to member' success. However, the cost of pursuing a successful marketing program is prohibitive for many small hotels. BHA provides economical cooperative opportunities for marketing in all media as well as timely distribution of information on additional marketing opportunities including sales leads from magazine advertising, media visits and industry meetings.
