Belize announces postponement of the reopening of the PGIA Airport.

In an address to the nation on August 5th, 2020, Belize’s Prime Minister – The Rt. Hon. Dean Barrow announced that there will be a delay in the reopening of the Phillip Goldson International Airport (PGIA) originally scheduled for August 15th, 2020.

After Belize experienced two consecutive days of spiked increases in positive cases, the Prime Minister stated that the official opening will be delayed, however, scheduled repatriation flights will continue. For persons planning business or vacation travel to Belize, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) has released an easy to use 4- step system outlining travel and safety procedures for your trip.

Returning residents needing to arrive before the airport’s reopening are encouraged to make their application to travel through the Emergency Repatriation Exercise.

Details for the reopening of the airport will be announced later.
